Size doesn't matter... but length does!

“How long should my hair be for waxing?” – every woman ever.

I always get asked this, so if you have no idea, you’re not alone! Some women worry that they’ll need to grow their hair really long, some women don’t quite grow it long enough! It’s like the Goldilocks effect. You’ll get the best results when your hair is jussssst riiiiiight.

I recommend that before waxing, you should let your hair grow to between 2mm and 5mm long. The hair needs to be long enough for the wax to grip onto the hair, but not too long so the wax will pull stray hairs, causing discomfort. Between 2mm & 5mm seems the be the ideal length for most women to grow their hair prior to waxing. To put this in perspective (in case you don’t want to get a ruler or tape measure to your armpits or lip hair!), 2mm is the width of a risotto rice grain, and 5mm is about the length. Everyone has risotto rice in the cupboard right…?

For some women it sounds a bit scary, they don’t want to grow their underarm hair etc out! But be reassured, you don’t have to grow your hair very long for it to be removed effectively by wax.
