Thai Massage

What is Thai Massage?

Thai Massage is also known as Thai Yoga Massage, or traditionally ‘Nuad Borarn’. In Thailand, it has been passed down through hundreds of generations, used as a way of treating pain and illness.

As travel has grown, the art of Thai massage has become adopted in the Westsern world. It’s now a popular therapy which is used to solve problems both mental and physical. It achieves this by clearing energy channels, also known as ‘Sen’ or ‘Meridians’ – the basic theory behind this being that pain and illness is caused by these pathways being blocked.

This post explains the link between Science and Spirituality!

Thai massage combines a variety or massage techniques including; acupressure, compression and stretching. Unlike most western massages, you will be fully dressed and lay down on supportive mats on the floor. Your body will be gently manipulated into positions to allow deep stretching and realignment. It is common practice for the therapist to use their hands, thumbs, elbows and arms when performing this treatment.

Benefits of Thai Massage

1# Reduce muscle tension & pain – by using accupressure, we’re able to release trapped nerves and work on key areas in order to lengthen taut muscles.

2# Joint mobilisation – thai manipulation techniques, like yoga, increase mobility in the joints, and improve the range of motion. The added flexibility can ease joint pain and give you a new lease on life.

3# Boosting energy – following the Chinese principal of energy flow, we work into the meridian energy lines in order to create a clear path for the energy to flow.

4# Emotional balance – by stimulating points along the meridians, we can create a healthy flow of energy and remove stagnant energy. Emotions are linked to negative energy, so we aim to release this during the thai massage.

5# Reduce neck pain & headaches – we hold a lot of tension in our neck and shoulders, this can cause headaches. By stimulating and relaxing the muscles, we can begin to bring those shoulders down and relax those neck muscles – this will markedly improve headaches.

6# Reduce stress – as with all of our massages, we want you to have a relaxing and enjoyable experience, feeling ten times lighter when you walk out the door! Whilst this massage can be quite deep at times, as your muscles relax, your mind will also!

7# Soothe sciatica pain – By stretching the body and manipulating joints we are able to alleviate pain and soothing nerves. We also teach you helpful stretches to keep supple!

8# Improve blood circulation – using the variety of thai techniques mentioned above, we will imcrease the blood  and lymph circulation, creating a healthier body.
